Remote Starter

For people living in colder climates, the idea of misery is often wrapped around hopping into cold cars, starting them up, then waiting an absolutely interminable time for the heater to work. The fact is that it is not entirely healthy, for that matter, especially for those with budding colds, to go hopping from the warmth of a home into the absolutely dreadful cold of a stationary position in a freezing cold automobile or truck.

Remote starters represent the height of intelligence and a more comfortable existence in this instance. This remote starter has some of the highest ratings of any available – and certainly in its price range. It has a multitude of other advantages, I might add, including the automatic door locks and alarm-engagers of your standard “smart” key ring set ups.

With built-in relays for door locks, trunk release output, dome light output, parking light output, one can see it offers a world of easier car dealings. A 4-button key ring holder offers everything within a programmable package.

A Great Book

An academic approach to modern cars may seem a little bit of a reach but this book here approaches the newer technologies and all the modern rigmarole with an excellent eye towards how little us old-fashioned “car fixers” actually know about the more modern versions.

Where so many of us see the old ways as superior, what this author gives us is a straightforward view of what makes the more modern units more adaptable and even superior in so many ways – and, more importantly – why. Explanations regarding all that plastic and all those wires and things become more understandable, by far. I loved reading this straightforward explanation of modern cars and their technology. It is written for the novice, I hasten to add, as a textbook in fact. I stumbled across it and am delighted I did.

The Perfect Winter Seat Warmer

The search for the best way to get over hopping into your car in the dead of Winter and freezing your tail off just got easier with this remarkable item. Having been in exactly that condition, sitting and waiting for a small Eternity for the heater to finally take over and provide a civilized level of warmth in sub-freezing weather, I can testify to the absolute glories of seat warmers. It’s a new world out there now and thank The Lord for such small favors.

This one is a tad special, inasmuch as it also contains a specific directional aspect, locating massage points and heat directed at specific areas of the back and behind. It runs off the cigarette lighter or even AC battery power and delivers enough warmth to make a person act and think darn near normal in the face of the screaming one does to get themselves warmer. Very, very timely product.

Deltran Battery Charger

Designed initially for ATV’s and Marine battery recharging and maintenance, this waterproof and spark-proof little item is unbelievably handy for any battery application. Compact and durable – it weighs one pound – it is an amazing trickle-charger that charges in a three-stage current-charge system. It is temperature compensated, fully potted to resist vibration and is so waterproof it can be submerged during operation. Another huge benefit is a reverse polarity indicator that informs us idiots we clamped the poles in reverse order.

Miniaturization of tools and implements is one of the standard benefits of modern technology. But it may be the durability aspects which mean even more. This tough and potent little item is perhaps the perfect recharging tool, and for a price that is completely acceptable to any budget.

Top Notch Gas Gizmo

A friend of mine who is a true mechanical geek loves gizmos and machines that give information about machine performance. This item is interesting for many reasons, not the least of which is data concerning gas mileage. But it does a lot more, as well. Check this out:

Gauges include:

  • Horsepower
  • Fuel Consumption Rate to 1/100th per gallon/liter
  • Vehicle speed (MPH)
  • Fuel Economy
  • Cost Per Mile/Cost Per Trip
  • Manifold Pressure (not available on some vehicles)
  • Battery Voltage
  • Engine Load
  • Coolant Temperature
  • Throttle Position
  • Intake Air Temperature
  • Ignition Timing
  • Engine Speed (RPM)
  • O2 Sensor Data
  • Fuel Trim
  • Hybrid Battery Charge (for Toyota Prius and Ford Escape)
  • And many more, depending on your vehicle’s sensor design

It is compatible with most 1996 and older vehicles, hooking up to the OBDII port or the CAN port, compatible with both.

It also carries this interesting gizmo, for all you Dads, lol:  If there is a young driver in the house or friends borrow your car, the ScanGaugeII can record speeds of up to 158 mph and store the information for you to view later, so you will know just how fast your young driver or friend was going last night.

This is a fascinating diagnostic tool that can really give some relevant information.
